Dear Educator,

Tennessee Renaissance Festival is proud to announce its 2010 Education Day for Middle Tennessee students. Our "Renaissance Day Out in the Month of May" will be held at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival Site on Monday, May 3rd 2010 (rain or shine) from 9:00am to 2pm (cst).

During the day's activities students can tour the first floor and grounds of Castle Gywnn, a full-size replica of the twelfth-century Welsh border castle. We suggest that, if you plan to tour the castle, you do so early in the morning to avoid long lines. Students will meet costumed Renaissance characters, experience period music, and enjoy period entertainment. Mounted armored knights will joust for your applause on the jousting tournament field. Artisan and crafters present their unusual and unique wares for your shopping pleasure.

Our Renaissance Day Out is held in Tennessee's forest-covered hills. As this is an outside activity, students should dress comfortably and wear tennis shoes. And of course, all are encouraged to attend in their Renaissance costume. We were pleased with student enthusiasm during our past years' educational Renaissance events. As we enjoy sharing glimpses of a world long past, we hope that you can join us for this year's School Day festival.

For safety and security reasons, our Renaissance School Day is for students, teachers, school-approved chaperones, and their bus drivers, only. We regret that we are unable to accommodate babies and children not yet in Elementary School on our School Day, but these wee folk are welcome to attend on a regular festival day (May 1,2,8,9,15,16,22,23,29,30 and May 31-Memorial Day).

Educators can call us at (615) 395-9950, Monday through Thursday, 10am-5pm (cst) or email us at festival@tnrenfest.com for a school day packet. Please note, school day application packets are mailed out in late February.
